Chicago was surrendered to a pet store (not surprisingly, in Chicago, IL) who contacted the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Scott Ballard of DNR orchestrated a complex transportation chain, first from Chicago to southern Illinois, then to southern Oklahoma, and finally to Austin where she arrived in August 2020. A mature female, Chicago lives in the female habitat and will be involved in the mate choice experiment.
